Hi children,

Here are the remaining solutions for the Test.

Try to understand the answers; do not just copy and leave the papers aside.
Learn from your mistakes and only then, will you grow (in knowledge ^^).

Eellent Display of Sportsmanship in Olympics 2016

Dear 4F,

Do you recall we were discussing about good "sportsmanship" in Unit 7 - Sports Day?

I came across this online news and I am so touched by these 2 Olympic runners' display of awesome sportsmanship. Seeing the pictures is enough to warm your heart (on a cool and rainy morning, yay!).

How to save a Promising Idea?

Dear 4F,

Click HERE to recall what we have done in the Computer Lab 2 this morning.
I posted the first part of lesson, on how to save a "Promising Idea".

Many pupils just saved without typing the reason why it is promising.
Please look through the notes again and re-do if necessary.

For pupils who are absent, I hope the steps are clear enough for you to do on your own at home over the weekends. If you still do not get it, come and look for me when you are well enough to be back in school. I will show you once again.

Ms Yeo

The Inuit

Hello 4F,

Here are some of the videos/links you might find interesting to help you better understand the Inuit:

Can you remember how the "High Kick" and "Knuckle Hop" looks like? Impressive right? Certainly it takes lots of strength to do those sports!

Activity 2: Eggsperiment!

Top: Beaker B (750 ml)
Bottom: Beaker A (250 ml)

Many of you can tell me the egg in Beaker A is not as cooked as Beaker B.
But that's a conclusion made based on what you observe.

So what did you see that makes you say the egg in Beaker B is more cooked?

Yes, that's right. Talk about the colour change of the egg white!
Before, it's transparent, slightly yellowish. But after it's poured into the respective beaker with different volume of water, you will note a colour change in the egg white; one turns opaque white at a faster rate than the other!

So that's an observation, and that's what you should record in your Activity Book page 5.

Master the basic observing skill.
Do not be confused with inferring and evaluation skill (explain).

Just remember the FIVE SENSES. That is how we observe. (:

Ms Yeo

CW 4 (Mock Paper 1) - Helping a child who was lost

Dear 4F,

You have learnt certain techniques of making your story more interesting. Some examples:
- thinking aloud
- adjectives
- adverbs
- dialogues

Do make a conscious effort to use all, if not most, in your writing.
See below for what makes a good writing - annotate in your own copy as well.

Matter Videos

Dear children,

Here are the 3 videos we had watched in class:

Summary of the videos content:
> all matters are made up of tiny particles (molecules)
> solid: particles are closely packed, cannot move across each other, vibrate in position
> liquid: particles loosely packed, can move across each other (flow)
> gas: particles are far apart, not touching each other

I hope by using particles to explain mass, you have a clearer understanding of what causes the 3 states of matter - solid, liquid and gas, to have its unique 3 properties (shape/volume/compressed) as seen below:

Properties of the 3 states
> solid has:
 definite shape
 definite volume
 cannot be compressed

> liquid has:
 no definite shape
 definite volume
 cannot be compressed

> gas has:
 no definite shape
 no definite volume
 can be compressed

Start your revision early and when in doubt, always ask!

Love,
Ms Yeo

Bringing to you 4F PATA PATA dance!

Dear 4F,

Do you know that whenever I watch this video, it really brings a smile to my face?

To all those pupils who tried their best and also had fun at the same time, I hope this would be one of your most memorable experiences in EDP.

Love,
Ms Yeo

p.s: Quality is rather poor as it's shot with a handphone. The school will be uploading all the performances from that day too, hopefully it'd be better! (:

March holiday update

Dear children,

How's the start of the school holiday feel so far?
While you are playing hard (and working hard too!), let us remember what we are tasked to do over the 1-week break:

ENGLISH
1) Click HERE find the answers to your Topical Test 1. Please complete corrections at home before bringing it back to school on the 21 March, with parent's signature obtained. Do take the initiative to find out the meaning of unfamiliar words and write it down, particularly to Section A - Vocabulary. Most words are actually from Unit 1 - 3.

2) HW: Continuous Writing "A Traffic Accident"
We have done a plot diagram to brainstorm for story ideas in a sequential manner. From there, a basic class story has been crafted out for you, and most of you agreed that the story is simplistic (lack of connectors, adverbs, descriptive phrases and most sentences start with the characters' names or pronouns.)

So, we edited 2 paragraphs from the basic story and many of you had a clearer idea on how can we make a story more interesting with adverbs of manner (How) and descriptive phrases. [SHOW, not tell]

Sadly, due to time constraints, we could not edit the whole story. So you wonderful children gave me your word you will read the edited story I've given to you (I've underlined the edited part) and highlight the adverbs, at the very basic. I hope you did not forget that.

After going through the 3 pieces of worksheets you should have, THEN you will start working on your individual writing. You can follow the class story line or edit some parts, such as the introduction and climax. But do not forget to include what you have learnt, which is how do we make a story more interesting with adverbs and descriptive phrases. Underline these adverbs and phrases you have included. It is NOT copying the class writing, or just changing the characters' names.

3) Term 2 Spelling List
The spelling list has been given out. Do make sure you have copied down the spelling dates. They can start learning a few during the holidays.

SCIENCE
1) Green file has been returned for your revision. Do file your Science test and update the content page.

I will collect it when school reopens.

With that, have a great March holiday!
