Snatch Theft Videos

Dear 4F,

We watched a few videos on snatch theft cases in class today. As promised, here are the other videos you can watch at your own time:

Snatch Theft Against The Elderly

Snatch Theft Behind CIMB Bank At Sunway Metro, Selangor

Observe the reactions from the victims carefully.
What did the eye-witnesses do?

These videos further reaffirm that such cases can happen anytime, anywhere, and to almost anybody. It is not the typical setting - dark and secluded area, where only the rich or elderly are targeted.

The key takeaway from today's lesson: VIGILANT

Let's plan our story map for tomorrow's lesson!

Ms Yeo

Digestive System

Dear children,

As promised, here are the 2 other videos on the digestive system that I find them very informative and interesting:

Remember to complete Activity 5 as well as the Notes section (pages 4 - 8). I will collect them next Monday, 18 January.

Do remember to learn your Science spelling Q1-10 too, the words as well as the meaning. Next Monday, 18 Jan, too.

I hope all of you have a better idea on our digestive system after today's lessons.
I look forward to your 3D model of a system of your choice too! You can choose to work individually or in pairs.

Have fun learning! :D

Love,
Ms Yeo

Past continuous tense

Dear 4F children,

We learnt about the conditional 'if' as well as the past and past continuous tense for the different types of verbs.

Here's a video that describe past activities using the past continuous tense. Enjoy!

Remember to complete page 10 & 11 of your companion booklet. We've done a learning sheet on the conditional 'if' in class today.

Identify the 2 actions, ask yourself which action must be fulfilled first before the other action can happen.

Remember to check your punctuation and tenses!

Big THANK YOU!

Thank you, Brayden's and Wynne's mummy for coming down to help!
Thank you to all those wonderful students who stayed to help too!
4F definitely became much a colourful classroom after 1 hour!

P.S: Do pass me your passport sized photograph if you've not done so!

I saw these in the school library and I thought how the toilet rolls and MacDonald's paper bag are creatively reused into cute little decorative pieces!

Can you guys think of any other ways of reusing and recycling used materials into decorative pieces for our 4F too?

Looking forward to your creative contributions!

Science update: Week 1

Dear children,

So we did a recap on "What is a system?" and explored the various types of systems once again.

"A system consists of many parts that work together to perform a function (what it does)."

Then, we explored the 5 main types of organ systems found in the human body (Can you list them?) and came to a conclusion that the human body is indeed a complex system, as within a system, there are many parts with their own functions too. Our body is amazing, isn't it?

Just remember, if you are in doubt of whether what can be constituted as a system, just look at the words in bold (see above) again. You can say these are the guidelines to defining a system!

We read this book in class today and I'm so glad that all, if not most of you, enjoyed it! You may try to find this in the public libraries or at the bookstores.

Homework: Draw/Sketch the 5 organ systems in the body and label at least 1 part/organ within each system on the blank side.

Do remember to get your parents to sign on the agreement (brown cover page) as well as the content page you've just drawn up today too.

Enjoy this video in your free time; one of my favourite cartoon series when I was young. (:

Classroom Decoration: 8 Jan, Fri

Dear 4F children,

Do remind your parents to write a note in your handbook to show their permission in letting you come to help out in the classroom decoration, that is, if you are willing and interested to stay back and help. Without a parental consent indicated via email/student handbook, I will have no choice but to ask you to go home. The decoration would not take more than 1 hour. I'm looking at completing the decoration by 2.45 pm as I've a meeting to attend later.

As CNY is coming, if possible, I'd be delighted if I can have some CNY decorations that are preferably made from reused/recycled materials, rather than buying brand-new ones. Let's try to go green as much as possible!

Love,

Ms Yeo

Welcome Letter to Parents

4 January 2016

Dear Parent/Guardian,

Welcome back to Endeavour Primary School! I hope you and your child had a fulfilling and meaningful holiday together. I am Ms Eunice Yeo and I will be teaching your child English and Science this year. I look forward to working closely with you to support and enrich the learning experiences of your child in Endeavour.

To the expectations I have regarding the class, here are some important and useful information that I would like to share with you.

1.        Homework
Homework may not be given out for every lesson. Homework can be given in the form of written work or online assignments in our Learning Management System via http://www.lead.com.sg/ . When there is homework, it will be given and written on the class whiteboard. Your child is expected to write it down in his/her handbook.

Please ensure that your child completes and hands in the homework to the subject representatives or group leaders the following day or the day as stated by me. Similarly, for handouts which require input from parents, please ensure that the handouts are filled in and sent back to the school the next day, through your child.

2.        Class Timetable
A copy of the class timetable has been given to your child today, 4 Jan 2016 (Monday). Do take note that there might be some changes to the timetable as the school is trying out this timetable for a week to see its fluidity. I will update the pupils should there be any changes and they are to update their timetable accordingly.

3.        Collection of books

In order to help your child carry a lighter school bag, I will be collecting the following items the next day, 5th January (Tuesday) and keeping them in class:

English Language
Science
FGTP
MC English Listening Comprehension & Oral P4 (Rev Edn)
Science Activity Book P4 – Cycles
FTGP Pupil’s Journal P4
P4 Vocab & Cloze Passages, Booklet 1 & 2
Science Activity Book P4 – Energy

MC P4 Companion Booklets (10 Titles)
Nature Study Exercise Book

2 Red English files for Creative Writing and Learning Sheets
1 Green Science file

Pupils are not to leave any textbooks/booklets, completed homework assignments and storybooks under their desks. However, they are allowed to leave their English dictionary (pupils are encouraged to have their own copy) under the desk to minimize their heavy bag load. Electronic dictionaries are not advisable to be left under the desk. Please ensure that your child’s name, class, subjects and register number are clearly written on the cover page.

For the first term, we will be covering the topic on “Systems”, followed by “Cycles” for Science. Please ensure your child brings the correct textbook for every Science lesson. He/She is expected to bring home the textbook after every lesson for revision purposes.

4.       Parent-Teacher Communication
I will continue to communicate with you through notes, telephone calls and emails whenever necessary. I’ll send a weekly email update or whenever possible. Likewise, if you have any concerns about your child, you may write to me via the Student Handbook, call the school office (Tel: 64824650) or email me at yeo_eunice@moe.edu.sg. The school will continue to send out letters to parents through the students to disseminate important information.

5.       Parents Change of Address and Contact Number
Do update me via your child’s handbook or the pupil’s particular form that I have returned for your verification.

6.       Absence from school
I would appreciate if you drop me an email to inform me of your child’s absence. Your child’s buddy will help to take note of his/her homework (if any) using the “Absent Work” card. Your child is to collect the homework when he/she is well enough to go back to school.

Thank you in advance for your cooperation. I look forward to working together with you in ensuring your child’s well-being and learning.

Yours sincerely,
Ms Eunice Yeo
