Welcome Letter to Parents

4 January 2016

Dear Parent/Guardian,

Welcome back to Endeavour Primary School! I hope you and your child had a fulfilling and meaningful holiday together. I am Ms Eunice Yeo and I will be teaching your child English and Science this year. I look forward to working closely with you to support and enrich the learning experiences of your child in Endeavour.

To the expectations I have regarding the class, here are some important and useful information that I would like to share with you.

1.        Homework
Homework may not be given out for every lesson. Homework can be given in the form of written work or online assignments in our Learning Management System via http://www.lead.com.sg/ . When there is homework, it will be given and written on the class whiteboard. Your child is expected to write it down in his/her handbook.

Please ensure that your child completes and hands in the homework to the subject representatives or group leaders the following day or the day as stated by me. Similarly, for handouts which require input from parents, please ensure that the handouts are filled in and sent back to the school the next day, through your child.

2.        Class Timetable
A copy of the class timetable has been given to your child today, 4 Jan 2016 (Monday). Do take note that there might be some changes to the timetable as the school is trying out this timetable for a week to see its fluidity. I will update the pupils should there be any changes and they are to update their timetable accordingly.

3.        Collection of books

In order to help your child carry a lighter school bag, I will be collecting the following items the next day, 5th January (Tuesday) and keeping them in class:

English Language
Science
FGTP
MC English Listening Comprehension & Oral P4 (Rev Edn)
Science Activity Book P4 – Cycles
FTGP Pupil’s Journal P4
P4 Vocab & Cloze Passages, Booklet 1 & 2
Science Activity Book P4 – Energy

MC P4 Companion Booklets (10 Titles)
Nature Study Exercise Book

2 Red English files for Creative Writing and Learning Sheets
1 Green Science file

Pupils are not to leave any textbooks/booklets, completed homework assignments and storybooks under their desks. However, they are allowed to leave their English dictionary (pupils are encouraged to have their own copy) under the desk to minimize their heavy bag load. Electronic dictionaries are not advisable to be left under the desk. Please ensure that your child’s name, class, subjects and register number are clearly written on the cover page.

For the first term, we will be covering the topic on “Systems”, followed by “Cycles” for Science. Please ensure your child brings the correct textbook for every Science lesson. He/She is expected to bring home the textbook after every lesson for revision purposes.

4.       Parent-Teacher Communication
I will continue to communicate with you through notes, telephone calls and emails whenever necessary. I’ll send a weekly email update or whenever possible. Likewise, if you have any concerns about your child, you may write to me via the Student Handbook, call the school office (Tel: 64824650) or email me at yeo_eunice@moe.edu.sg. The school will continue to send out letters to parents through the students to disseminate important information.

5.       Parents Change of Address and Contact Number
Do update me via your child’s handbook or the pupil’s particular form that I have returned for your verification.

6.       Absence from school
I would appreciate if you drop me an email to inform me of your child’s absence. Your child’s buddy will help to take note of his/her homework (if any) using the “Absent Work” card. Your child is to collect the homework when he/she is well enough to go back to school.

Thank you in advance for your cooperation. I look forward to working together with you in ensuring your child’s well-being and learning.

Yours sincerely,
Ms Eunice Yeo
