Science update: Week 1

Dear children,

So we did a recap on "What is a system?" and explored the various types of systems once again.

"A system consists of many parts that work together to perform a function (what it does)."

Then, we explored the 5 main types of organ systems found in the human body (Can you list them?) and came to a conclusion that the human body is indeed a complex system, as within a system, there are many parts with their own functions too. Our body is amazing, isn't it?

Just remember, if you are in doubt of whether what can be constituted as a system, just look at the words in bold (see above) again. You can say these are the guidelines to defining a system!

We read this book in class today and I'm so glad that all, if not most of you, enjoyed it! You may try to find this in the public libraries or at the bookstores.

Homework: Draw/Sketch the 5 organ systems in the body and label at least 1 part/organ within each system on the blank side.

Do remember to get your parents to sign on the agreement (brown cover page) as well as the content page you've just drawn up today too.

Enjoy this video in your free time; one of my favourite cartoon series when I was young. (:
